EPHIMOPTERA
Sinopsis
Epimoptera is an interdisciplinary project that combines choreographic work and sound art. Inquire into the relationships that exist between humans and insects. We have focused the study on the behaviors that make us so different and so similar at the same time.
We as scenic creators and ecologists are interested in promoting the observation of the environment. Sometimes insects will seem insignificant due to their size and their ephemeral lives, but they play a fundamental role in the balance of ecosystems and without them our existence would be impossible. Worldwide there are approximately 1.7 million species and here in Costa Rica there are about 360,000 species, representing 70% of the country's biodiversity
They are fascinating, beautiful, distinct and mysterious. It is precisely this mystery that caught us in this investigation through dance and sound art and led us to the creation of Epimoptera.
The project transcends the musical proposal and gives great importance to the sound, which in the case of insects reveals a lot to us. We want to introduce the public to a complete acoustic; a range of composite sounds spanning many frequencies. It is understood that this is healthy acoustics, it stimulates senses that are generally numb or damaged by our daily living in a city.
